Long barrow or two round barrows, E of Small Down Camp, Evercreech

Tratman considered this mound to be a single long barrow. {1}

A.T Wicks quotes O.G.S Crawford for this mound marked on the OS 1929 6" map as being a possible long barrow. Seems little doubt that this is a genuine long barrow (T403). Axis aligned about ESE-WNW. Slightly higher and wider at the E where it is 60ft wide and 4ft high. Total length 93ft. At the W end it is 42ft wide and 3.5ft high. A little way from the W end is evidence of an old trench cut through the mound. The trench is about 12ft wide. At the E end on top but slightly off-centre is an irregular depression which may be a collapsed chamber. {2}

Grinsell believes them to be two confluent round barrows. One 14 paces diameter and 3ft high (Evercreech 14). The other 22 paces diameter and 4ft high (Evercreech 15). {3}

OSAD gives the NGR as ST67094063 for both. {4}
