Site Name: Budbury
Civil Parish: Bradford on Avon
Grid Ref: 382150, 161140

Description:
Iron Age hillfort excavated in 1969.

Details:
Promontory hillfort. Rectilinear hut in interior excavated by GJ Wainwright 1969. Finds include pottery, metalwork, antler, bone and stone artefacts. Two large rim sherds Iron Age pottery found at ST82266107 appear to have come from the ditches and relate to the same entity. OS Record Card ST86SW020 refers to this site before excavation in 1969 - and Underwood's wrong interpretation that site was a burial mound.
